Kapuso actress Wynwyn Marquez confirmed the split of her brother Mark Anthony Fernandez and his wife Melissa Garcia in an interview with Pep.ph, following months of speculations about the couple’s separation.
Wynwyn Marquez is the half-sister of Mark Anhtony Fernandez from his mother Alma Moreno while the “Rhodora X” actor is the son of the late multi-awarded actor Rudy Fernandez.
“Alam ko naghiwalay na sila ni Ate Mel. Actually, nalaman ko lang siya dahil sa isang reporter din and okay naman kasi si Ate Mel, pareho kami ng village,” she said when asked about the status of her brother and his non-showbiz wife.
The “Kambal Sirena” star said that though they had already separated, they maintained their good relationship and being civil for their kids. The 22-year-old actress refused to give details about the reason of their split.
According to Wynwyn Marquez, Melissa Garcia had already accepted her separation from her husband but she was saddened because they have been together for a long time. The actor and Melissa Garcia tied-the-knot on 2006.
“Sad lang [si Melissa Garcia], medyo matagal rin yung pinagsamahan nila. Siyempre, kasal sila, sayang lang yung pinagsamahan pero kung doon sila masaya..,” she said.
Melissa Garcia and Mark Anthony Fernandez, who was previously in a relationship with controversial actress Claudine Barretto, have known each other since 1999 after they became neighbors in a subdivision. They got married on September 24, 2006 and has two sons.
