Actress-host Carmina Villaroel has issued a statement in defense of her husband Zoren Legaspi who was found out having multiple tax identification numbers (TIN) prior to the claims of his accountant Flora Capili.
The National Internal Revenue Code (NIRC) states that obtaining multiple TIN is prohibited under the provision of the law because it may be used to avoid correct payment of taxes.
The 38-year-old TV host issued a statement regarding the controversy involving her husband through Queen of All Media Kris Aquino on “Aquino & Abunda Tonight,” on Wednesday evening, May 28, 2014.
“Carmina wanted to say, gusto lang nilang sabihin, na i-stress na hindi alam ni Zoren na he had multiple-TINs at multiple-TINs ang ginagamit. Pangalawa, gusto niyang ipaalam sa mga tao that he has only been using one TIN and that they are very grateful to Assistant Prosecutor Atty. Stewart Allan Mariano for helping and guiding Zoren,” Kris Aquino said.

“Ang parang gusto nilang i-emphasize talaga na hindi sinabi yung apat (TINs), hindi sinabi ng accountant nila,” she further added.
Accountant Flora Capili said that there were “discrepancies” while Zoren Legaspi is paying his taxes. Assistant State Prosecutor Stewart Allan Mariano gave him up to June 6, 2014 to file his counter-affidavit which will be presented by his legal counsel.
Based upon the complaint of Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), Zoren Legaspi was summoned for his under-declared tax payments for years 2010 and 2012. But he earlier noted that he is willing to cooperate for necessary investigation.
