Lyca Gairanod impressed coach Sarah Geronimo during “The Voice Kids Philippines” blind audition night after the lovely kid performed the Aegis hit song “Halik,” Sarah G. was able to press the button and turned her chair around after more than 2 lines from the song.

The little girl from Cavite performed the Aegis hit song on The Voice Kids’ Sunday’s episode on May 25, 2014. Lyca Gairanod, the nine-year-old kid made a powerful and heartfelt rendition of the song which wowed not only the coaches but also the live audience of the show. Netizens were also amazed on how the little kid belted the song.
Meanwhile one of the coaches, Coach Lea Salonga admitted that she was surprised that Lyca Gairanod was able to hit the high notes of the song. Although impressed with the little girl, Lea Salonga noted that she had to leave the coaching to Sarah Geronimo after feeling the two were meant to be.
When Lyca Gairanod was asked if she really wanted Sarah to be her coach, she replied: “Opo… Kasi siya na po ‘yung hinahanap ko.” she said.
According to The Voice Philippines, Lyca’s father is a fisherman, while her mom scavenges for used bottles and old newspapers. During the interview with Lyca’s mom, Maria Nessel, she couldn’t believe that her daughter made it to the Blind Auditions given their social background.
Lyca Gairanod’s mother was quoted as saying “Di ko po talaga akalaing makakapasok kami sa ganito kasi ang alam ko pangmayaman lang ang mga ganito… akala ko walang chance,” she said.
The nine-year-old Lyca Gairanod was the only recruit of Coach Sarah Geronimo during the Sunday’s episode of “The Voice Kids Philippines.”
