Celtics spokesman Brian Olive confirmed Rondo’s near return but still has to wait on his doctors and trainers evaluation regarding the Celtics guard condition to make sure he is ready.

“Rajon is progressing terrifically in his rehab and this is the next step,” general manager Danny Ainge said. “This is a brief (–foul word(s) removed–)ignment so that Rajon ca participate in a workout this afternoon with the Red Claws and he will be called back up to the Celtics upon the conclusion of the workout.” Celtics added

Rondo suffered from tearing of anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee last January 25 (Jan. 26 in PHL time). He hoped to make his debut before the All-star break.

Boston was stucked at the bottom of the East Conference standings with 14-26 card.
