Smart Company Donated Satellite Phones to Ilo-ilo City

The City of Ilo-ilo was struck badly by super typhoon Yolanda that resulted to power interruptions and electronic communications failure.

Despite of this tragic incident, Smart Communications do their part and donated satellite phones to Ilo-ilo provincial government to help victims of Yolanda in Northern Ilo-ilo to call their love ones for free.

In an interview, Smart, a mobile phone and internet service subsidiary of Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT), delivered the equipment to the office of the Governor Tuesday, November 12,2013.

While the restoration of their network facilities is ongoing, affected residents from Sara, Carles, Concepcion and Estanzia will be given a satellite phones for them to reach out their love ones.

Meanwhile, Provincial Administrator Raul Banias headed to the towns of Carles and Estancia for the installation of the smart satellite phones.

Smart’s Distributor Business Manager Giovani V. Gagelonia, said that their signal was lost when the typhoon damage their town in Sandionisio, and he added that the tower was also destroyed and deformed to strong winds brought by super typhoon Yolanda and they are fixing it, but as of now he could not give any details when exactly their work will be done.

On the other hand, PLDT Community Relations Division Head Evelyn M. Del Rosario turned over 1,000 packs worth P380 each containing 2 kilos of rice, canned goods, battled water and biscuits.
