The Supertyphoon “Yolanda” with an international name “Haiyan,” considered as the strongest typhoon to hit the world in 2013, made a landfall as early as 4:30 PM, Friday in Guiuan, Eastern, Samar. The typhoon was expected earlier to land at around 5:00 AM but the typhoon hits 30 minutes before forecasted time.
According to the Nov. 8, 5:00 A.M PAGASA Bulletin, Yolanda was observed 62 kms. Southeast of Guiuan, Samar, packing a maximum sustained winds of 235 kms. per hour near the center with gustiness of up to 275 kph.

Super Typhoon Yolanda is expected to traverse the provinces of Biliran, the north tip of Cebu particularly Bantayan Island and the rest of the Fourth Provincial District of Cebu, Iloilo, Capiz, Aklan, Romblon, Semirara Island, and the southern part of Mindoro then Busuanga and will exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility early Saturday toward the West Philippine Sea.
