Castro, Tenorio and Santos Disputes PBA MVP 2013

Three of the most versatile basketball star this season disputes for the much-coveted title as the PBA Season 38th Most Valuable Player. Talk ‘N Text guard Jayson Castro, Barangay Ginebra playmaker LA Tenrio and Petron’s high-flying forward Arwind Santos are the top three contenders for this year’s Leo Awards.

The awarding ceremony will be held at aroun 7:00 PM tonight at the Mall of Asia Arena, before the Game Four of the PBA Governors Cup Finals between the Petron Blaze Boosters and the San Mig Coffee Mixers.

The Season 38 PBA awarding ceremonies will be broadcast live over AksyonTV Channel 41. The three top candidates were considered as topnotchers after they dominated and won the Best Player of the Conference in each of the PBA’s three tournaments this year.

Talk ‘N Text stars Jayson Castro won the top honors during the Philippine Cup and led the Tropang Texters to their third straight title in the All-Filipino conference. He also helped his team to the semifinals of the Commissioner’s Cup, he is also the only MVP contender to appear in more than one final four series this season.

LA Tenorio was awarded with the Best Player Plum during the Commissioner’s Cup after he carried the Gin Kings to a finals appearance. He was also a top contender for the same award in the Governor’s Cup but his stint was cut short after his team was eliminated.

Arwind Santos on the other hand is the winner of the Governor’s Cup Best Player of the Conference Awards and currently leading his team in the finals against San Mig Coffee Mixers. Apart from statistics, the MVP will also be determined by player votes, media votes, and votes from a panel from the PBA.
