According to BIR Commissioner Kim Henares during a press briefing, Jene Napoles has tax liabilities of P32 million on the basis of her confirmed ownership of two properties: one in Los Angeles, California worth P54.73 million and a farm lot in Bayambang, Pangasinan worth P1.49 million.

The BIR Commissioner added further that the 23-year-old Jeane Napoles failed to file any income tax return for 2011-2012 that would prove where she derived her income to be able to buy these properties. Jeane don’t even declared those properties as gifts, the commissioner stated.

Commissioner Henares was quoted as saying, “The presumption is that for you to be able to buy something worth P54.73 million you must be able to earn an income with a net of P54.73 million. This is a conservative estimate because we don’t even include your daily expenditures,” Henares said in a press conference.

Jeane Napoles reportedly had a condominium unit at the posh Ritz Carlton in Los Angeles. According to a news report by Rappler.com last October 5, 2013, the Ritz Carlton property unit is currently priced at US$200,000 – 300,000 (roughly P9 million to P13.5 million) way below its original selling price of $1.475 (P36,875,000).

Commissioner Henares also noted that since Napoles is selling her unit in Ritz Carton, she should also pay taxes once it’s sold. The BIR also filed a tax evasion case to Janet Lim Napoles last September 26, 2013, the total tax liability stands at P44.68 million.
