Qatar Defeated Hong Kong 87-64 Tops Group B (Highlights Video)

The Qatar National Men’s basketball team defeated Hong Kong with an 87-64 victor over Hong Kong and top Group B of the FIBA Asia Championship hosted by the Philippines.

The Gulf champion team raced to a 32-14 first quarter lead succeeded on their second victory of the tournament after they defeated Japan last Friday during the opening of the competition. Former NBA player Jarvis Hayes, the naturalized player of Qatar scored with 25 points and shot 5-of-6 from beyond the arc in just 24 minutes of action.

Qatar’s Daoud Mosa contributed with 17 points for Qatar while Chan Siu Wing of Hong Kong was the lone player for his squad who scored double-digit pouring out 18 points on 5-of-9 shooting from three-point range.

Hong Kong dropped its second straight match after a loss to Japan on Saturday. But all three Group B teams will advance to the next round of the competition with the disqualification of Lebanon from the tournament.

All the three teams from Group B will face the top three finishers in Group A which includes the Philippines, Chinese Taipei, Jordan or Saudi Arabia in the second round of the competition.
