Sen. Chiz Escudero Hurt by Estrada’s Campaigning Against Him

Senatorial candidate and one of the vocal supporter of the former President Erap Estrada, Sen. Chiz Escudero is deeply hurt by the allegations that his godfather, is campaigning against him in the Senaate race.

According to Team PNoy spokesman, Marikina Rep. Miro Quimbo, stated that several allies of both Estrada and Escudero allegedly confirmed that former President Erap asked them to “withdraw” their support for Escudero.

The confirmation was made through an interview with ANC Headstart on March 13, 2013. According to the spokesman he was saddened with the news involving the withdraw of support for Escudero by some of Estrada’s supporters.

Sen. Escudero has some history with both Estrada and another United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) leader, Vice-President Jejomar Binay. He served as campaign spokesman for the 2004 Presidential bid of Fernando Poe Jr. He also endorsed winning Vice-Presidential bet Jejomar Binal during the 2010 May polls.

Meanwhile according to UNA campaign manager Toby Tiangco he urged Escudero to “name names” on which local officials were allegedly approached by Estrada to clear the name of Erap and his allies in the UNA Party.

Sen. Escudero denied the allegations and rumors that he “got on his knees and tearfully begged former President Joseph Estrada to chose him his running-mate in the 2010 Elections.

On the 2013 May Elections, Escudero stated that the withdrawal of support only targeted him and not former UNA guest candidates Loren Legarda and Grace Poe.
