The Blue Eagles of the Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU) defeated the University of Sto. Tomas (UST) Growling Tigers in Game 1 of the UAAP Men’s Basketball Finals with the final score at 83-78.
Nico Salva poured out a total of 30 points to coped up with the struggling Ateneo superstar Kiefer Ravena. The Blue Eagles made an astonishing 16-0 run to take the lead at 47-38 in the third quarter.
The game was one of the closest and most exciting ball game in the history of the UAAP as both teams were able to score their respective baskets.
The victory of the Blue Eagles will put them at the forefront of the title as they will try to make their fifth straight crown. Aljon Mariano of the UST led their opponents with a total of 22 points and 11 rebounds.
The Men’s basketball competition of the UAAP featured two of the most popular family names whose parents were former PBA Stars, Ravena and Teng.
Both teams were also mentored by former PBA stars, Pido Jarencio for UST and Norman Black for Ateneo.
