Erik Spoeltra’s Contract with Miami Heat Extended

National Basketball (–foul word(s) removed–)ociation’s youngest coach and Asia’s first head coach in an NBA Team Erik Spoelstra renewed his contract with Miami Heat ending speculations that the Filipino-American will end his career after his failure to bring home the ring for the star-studded Miami Heat.

The announcement of contract extension was made by Team President Pat Riley on Friday that will secure the position of the 41-year-old Coach Spo as the head coach of Miami Heat. The terms were not divulged by the team as they were used to do involving contract extension.

The first and only Filipino-American who have been a major figure in one of the most prized franchise in NBA history had already made a headlines after he lead the team into the Finals of the National Basketball (–foul word(s) removed–)ociation beaten only by the ultimate champion Dallas Mavericks.

Erik Spoelstra who traced his roots from Laguna was a son of a former NBA executives and a Filipina from San Pablo, Laguna. Before he was chosen as the head coach of the Miami Heat, he worked as a bench tactician of the Miami Heat.

Coach Spo as what he was used to be called by his co-workers was credited as the main man who trained and develop the shooting form of former NBA Most Valuable Player Dwayne Wade. With the contract extension he will begin his fourth season as head coach of the Miami Heat and his 17th season overall with the Miami Heat.

Miami Heat Team President and Hall of Famer Coach Pat Riley (–foul word(s) removed–)ured Miami Heat’s fans and supporters that Spoelstra’s contract with the Miami Heat will be renewed for he was confident that the Fil-Am head coach will someday become a Hall of Famer also.

Erik Spoeltra had a strong track record with the Miami Heat. During his three seasons with Miami he went on 148-98 in regular-season games, 18-15 in playoff games. Last season he made it to the Finals with a record of 58-24, then 14-7 in the postseason. Miami was beaten during the six games against the Mavericks and failed to capture the NBA world championship.
