The world has witnessed how the Filipino champion won over Sugar ‘Shane’ Mosley. It was an impressive win, but despite of Manny’s extraordinary performance, expert boxing analysts have seen some flaws during the fight and that includes the slower hand speed of the Filipino boxer.
Boxing analyst Ronnie Nathanielsz said these flaws decreases performance of Manny and should be immediately corrected for the next fight.
“Manny has superior performance above the ring. His footwork and fighting style is very impressive but the speed of his hand was a little bit slower. It could be a result of being over-trained. Pacquiao underwent of an 8-weeks solid training. From Day 1, his training was very hard because they wanted his body stronger. With all the strength and conditioning exercises you do there would be a tendency that you can’t have everything you expect. Sometimes it would be resulting a little bit of slowing down. You tighten up especially at that weight,” Nathanielsz said in the interview.
Manny’s lifestyle of juggling careers could be affected as a congressman, endorser and singer it could be taking a toll on him, he said.
Some expert boxing analyst have noticed Manny’s resistance was getting slower. Oftentimes Manny went out to do various events outside of his boxing career. There are many people he will meet prior to his fight in which probably he got his throat infections a week before the fight against Mosley. As a boxer, once you get infected, surely it weakens you.
Alex Ariza Conditioning Coach of Pacquiao was so concerned that they had to bring him in a doctor to check some kind of infection.
Leg cramps also impeded Pacquiao’s movement during the fight and stopped him from pressing his attack against Mosley, Nathanielsz said.
I think Pacquiao is not slowing down. He just need a right opponent that will fight him toe-to-toe. Even with his leg injury, if you give him a good fight, you will see Manny’s best in the ring. He will fight with firepower! Great post!
