Vice President Jejomar Binay confirmed in a live television interview that the three Filipino who were sentenced to death in China has already been executed.
In his statement, Vice president Binay expressed his deepest sadness to inform the public that the three Filipino’s in China have been executed.
Binay who is currently in an official trip to Qatar, said he received from the Philippine diplomats the word of the executions, Wednesday.
The three Filipino’s; Ramon Credo, 42, Elizabeth Batain, 38, and Sally Villanueva, 32, were executed, despite the appeals coming from the Families and the Philippine government to have their death sentence commuted to life.
Philippine Consul Noel Novicio said, that the three were not aware that they will be executed Wednesday, although it was announce officially early in that day. According to him this is the first time that a Filipino National has been executed to death in China.
China, which is known to be the world’s largest executioner, with thousands of convicts killed every year, does not usually announce executions. Death penalty in the Philippines have already been abolished.
In a text message sent by Maylene Ordinario, Villanueva’s sister to her family in the Philippines, she said “They already gave us (her) things. It’s too much; they gave us only one hour (with her). They have no mercy,”
She also informed her family that her sister was blessed by a priest and that her sister asked for forgiveness for all her sins but insisted the she was just a victim.
In a radio interview, Mylene said that her sister asked them to take care of her children, to take care of each other and to help one another. “We are forcing ourselves to accept it but I can’t” mylene added.
Caught carrying packages containing at least 8 pounds of heroin, the three were arrested separately in 2008 and convicted the following year.
The three were supposed to be executed to death last February 20 and 21, but was saved and given a temporary reprieve after the visit of Vice President Binay to Beijing last February 18.
