‘To see is to believe’ is something in the latest computer technology. As a matter of fact, you need to look at it just to make it work. In conjunction with ‘Tobii Technology and ‘Lenovo computers’, the two develop with technology – a laptop with built-in eye-tracking so that you can certainly do certain things by just looking at them.
“Corneal reflection’ is the process happening in this technology” explained Barbara Barclay of ‘Tobbi Technology’. “The two infrared lights illuminating the eye is responsible of the process of taking the retinal reflection. With the help of two cameras, the glint of the eye will simultaneously take images at a rate of around 30-40 images per second both of the two eyes. We are building a ‘3D model’ of the eye, so that we always know where you’re looking.”
The introduce technology is not yet equip with mechanics to gear without control of their hands, but it is an addition to the mouse and keyboard in every operation.
There are specific actions like ‘reading’ and scrolling down the text as you are reading or working through special menus such as the bottom or the side tool bar, can replace the mouse or the keyboard temporarily.
Many among the rest of applications require you to hold mouse or touch the keyboard to perform a certain task. That way the computer does not act like it has its own mind when you are just simply looking around the screen.
For example, ‘there is no need for hunting using your little cursor on the screen’. Instead, just simply look where you want to click, and then click the mouse, ‘and there it is’. Several architects and engineers had made necessary analysis to detailed digital models, so you can just look at the spot you would like to zoom-in on and click the mouse to make it happen.
Another thing this computer might come to its effectiveness is somewhere like in the operating room, where doctor scrubs-in and then the doctor is not supposed to touch anything but only the tools and the patient.
“For a doctor doing surgery or a dentist considering you are in a sterile environment and you need not to touch anything with your hands, but you only need to look at an ‘x-ray’ or an image of something or somebody,” Barclay said.
This technology would be available in the market very soon. When buyers expect the computer become smaller and would not add too much to the price to the unit to dissuade the buyers from choosing it as a good added option.
