DILG Sec. Jonvic Remulla Reacts To Davao Mayor Baste Duterte’s Remarks vs. PBBM
JONVIC REMULLA – The Interior Secretary reacted to the recent fiery remarks of Davao Mayor Baste Duterte against President Bongbong Marcos.
After several months since Senator Robin Padilla took a leave from being the president of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan as he wants to focus on his legislative duties, the position is now officially filled. Davao Mayor Baste Duterte is now the new PDP-Laban president.

Mayor Baste’s father, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte, is the chairman of the PDP-Laban. However, the former Chief Executive remains detained under the custody of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, Netherlands for more than a year now.
Former Pres. Duterte was arrested by the Philippine authorities last March 11, 2025 and his custody was immediately transferred to the ICC. He is currently faced with three (3) counts of murder as alleged crimes against humanity filed by the ICC prosecution.

The Marcos Jr. administration is heavily blamed over the arrest and the transfer of the custody of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte. Vice Pres. sara Duterte believes that the President allegedly committed an impeachable offense over what happened to her father.

Aside from assuming the presidential post in his father’s political party, Davao Mayor Baste Duterte is also set to lead the RAGE coalition or the Reform Alliance for Good Governance and Accountability coalition. It was recently launched alongside Duterte assuming the PDP-Laban presidency.
At the event, Davao Mayor Baste Duterte accused the Marcos Jr. of alleged corruption. He also threw a fiery remark against the Pres. Bongbong Marcos.
“Isang ulo lang naman ang kailangan namin. Ang ulo ni Bongbong Marcos,” the Davao Mayor said.

Recently, Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla reacted to the remarks of Davao Mayor Baste Duterte against Pres. Bongbong Marcos. Based on a report on GMA News, he downplayed the remarks of the Davao City Mayor.
“I don’t think so. Well, some are offended. Pero sup*t naman talaga. Puro dakdak, dakdak nang dakdak,” the DILG Secretary said.
Based on the report, Interior Sec. Jonvic Remulla further claimed that if Davao Mayor Baste Duterte wants to be the leader of the nation, he allegedly must be more statesmanlike. He stressed that he should not be all words.
“If you want to lead the country, you have to be more statesmanlike. You have to talk about what’s the future of the country. Pero kung gano’n ang salita mo, tapos puro hirit ka lang, eh kumbaga noong college tayo, tawag mo doon sup*t talaga,” Remulla added.
At the RAGE Coalition’s launching, Sen. Robin Padilla hinted at the future presidential run of Davao Mayor Baste Duterte after the bid of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte in 2028.
