The New World Bantamweight Champion Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire could be the next world boxing superstar apparently the heir of Manny Pacquio fame, said one of the analysts.
In Las Vegas Saturday night (Sunday in the Philippines) Donaire enthroned two new boxing titles the World Boxing Organization (WBO) and World Boxing Council (WBC) bantamweight belts.
The Filipino Flash-Donaire, a 28-year-old former world flyweight champion before Donaire vs. Montiel fight and he was a number 5-boxing fighter of the world from the top 10 pound for pound (P4P) on the Ring Magazine where Pacquiao on top.
Boxing expert analysts believe that Donaire’s destruction of Montiel will be the strong factor for his rise to the top of P4P lists.
Donaire has almost the same background and success with the Filipino Champ Manny Pacquiao. Grew in the same place of General Santos, Philippines became full time professional boxers before the age of 20 and started in the same smallest weight cl(–foul word(s) removed–), and earned numerous championships at the same age of 28, the analysts said.
Top Rank boss Bob Arum said, “People will see a lot of things with Donaire that we saw with Manny Pacquiao”.
Most of the boxing experts are looking forward that one day Donaire will reach the top of the Pound-for-Pound lists.
Eastside Boxing analysts James Slater said, “Is there any fighter at either 118 to 122 or 126, who stop the fast rising boxing career of Donaire?”
Donaire has already proven now and deserves Number 3 Pound-for-Pound ranking just behind Mayweather and Pacquiao on the top, said Dan Rafael of ESPN.com.
Rafael, after viewing the fight of Donaire vs. Montiel is looking forward that Donaire will be taking the route in the fame of Pacquiao.
With the powerful knock-out, Donaire is another Filipino boxing champion raising the flag of victory over the rivalry with Mexico.
