Atrial Fibrillation, one of the dangerous risk factor for stroke

Atrial Fibrillation

Atrial fibrillation is one of the most ignored symptom that is becoming leading risk factor for causing stroke. Many people believe who suffers from Atrial fibrillation doesn’t acknowledge that they are at great risk of having a stroke at any time.

A recent survey in England discovers that every two out of 3 people having Atrial fibrillation symptoms do not know that they are actually having irregular heart rhythm. Medical experts predicts that more than four thousand of stroke accidents can be prevented from happening if the person is aware of his Atrial fibrillation and gets a proper medical treatment for it.

Experts at The Stroke (–foul word(s) removed–)ociation says that Atrial fibrillation is a big risk factor for the devastating accident like Stroke. Atrial fibrillation is a direct cause of stroke with the ratio of 14% of all strokes.

Many people believe that only aging, high blood pressure, smoking and diabetes are the risk factors for stroke but what they are ignoring is a major disease/symptom that should not be ignored (the Atrial fibrillation).

And hence, many people do not take Atrial fibrillation as a major sign of amending stroke and do not seek for medical attention, which leave them alone in the fate that probably has 50-50% chance of amending stroke.

Symptoms of Atrial fibrillation includes shortness of breath, sensation of rapid heart beat, and chest pain (angina). Although not all symptoms may not occur and in many cases Atrial fibrillation goes completely unnoticed. And hence, that’s why a stroke from Atrial fibrillation is so sudden that most of the stroke patient was not expecting it at all.

Whereas stroke itself is caused by high blood pressure but Atrial fibrillation is also sometimes caused by high blood pressure. Other causes of Atrial fibrillation includes heart disease, lung disease, alcohol, hyperthyroidism, and genetic factors (i.e. Atrial fibrillation running in family).

Some people feel fluttering sensation in their chest and no other symptoms at all, and hence they would think as if it is phlegm or something stuck in chest that cleared. So if you are ill or over 40, and experiencing odd symptoms -do not wait and go to the doctor as soon as possible, as stroke is not just a unilateral paralysis it can also cause a sudden death if stroke’s intensity is severe.

Atrial fibrillation is the very most common heart condition found in heart patients. Most of the patients who get admission in hospital are because of the complication that they suffer from Atrial fibrillation. Although the incidence of Atrial fibrillation raises higher along with aging process but like any other disease one cannot sit back and relax if he is young, because for certain reasons it can strike at any age and any time.
