Samson Alcantara: Profile, Bios, & Platform (Senatorial Candidate #1)

Senatorial candidate no. 1 Atty. Samson Alcantara is being dubbed as the alternative senatorial candidates. He bowed to end the political dynasty in the Philippines if elected as Senators in the upcoming May 2013, election.

The 77-year-old Alcantara is a nominee of the Social Justice Society, one of the COMELEC recognized political party in the country. He is a professor of Labor Law and he graduated and finished law at the Manuel L. Quezon University Law School in 1957. He was known for topping the Bar Examinations in 1957 garnering the third-highest over-all ratings.

He has been engaged in active law practice since 1958 and currently a retained counsel of several teachers’ and allied workers’ unions. He is the National President of Social Justice Society, and the Founding Chairman and President of ABAKADA GURO Party-list, a teachers’ party-list.

Prof. Alcantara started teaching in 1967 handling Political Law and Labor Law subjects. Presently, he is a faculty member of the UST Faculty of Civil Law, MLQ School of Law, PLM College of Law, and a bar reviewer in several law schools.
