Update on Jane de Leon’s Darna Movie

JANE DE LEON’S DARNA MOVIE – The next Darna project starring the young Kapamilya actress is “postponed indefinitely”.

One of the most-awaited films is Darna. It’s been a while since the Filipinos saw it being played on screen and many are very eager to see the next actress chosen to play the iconic superhero.

Jane de Leon was chosen for the role. It was in 2019 when the announcement came and it is undeniably a huge break for the Star Magic talent. It is one of the most sought-after roles and to be chosen for it is really a huge honor and opportunity.

Jane de Leon’s Darna film has starting folling in January. However, 2020 is filled with challenges – to point to the COVID-19 pandemic as the biggest one that the whole nation is dealing with.

Due to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing fight, Jane de Leon’s Darna movie is “postponed indefinitely”. It was set to be directed by Jerrold Tarog.

Before Tarog, the movie project was given to filmmaker Erik Matti. However, he departed from the project due to “creative differences” with Star Cinema and Tarog took the task.

Initially, it was young actress Liza Soberano who was set to play as the next Darna. However, her injury caused her to withdraw from the project thus the search for another actress took place.

Jane de Leon’s Darna postponement saddened the young actress and a lot of people waiting for the movie. It was due to the COVID-19 pandemic now. Meanwhile, everyone is hoping for the best and safety comes first even for Jane de Leon.
