The Philippines is one of the countries that brought home several Miss Universe crowns. Four (4) Filipinas made a huge record in the prestigious battle of beauty and wit and one of them is Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach who brought home the Miss Universe crown in 2015.
Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach’s Personal Background
Born on September 4, 1989 in Stuttgart, Germany, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach was welcomed by a German father, Uwe Wurtzbach, and a Filipino mother, Cheryl Alonzo Tyndall. She has a younger sister. When they flew back to the Philippines, they first lived in Iligan City in Northern Mindanao and then transferred in Cagayan de Oro City. It was where she attended her kindergarten education at Kong Hua School and primary school at Corpus Christi School.
The parents of Pia separated and she was 11 years old then. She was the breadwinner of the family at a young age with her modeling and acting.
Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach’s Showbiz Career
At the age of four (4) years old, Pia’s showbiz career began. She was managed by ABS-CBN’s talent arm, the Star Magic, and her stage name was Pia Romero. She was part of the Star Circle Batch 11 and became part of several projects. After her Miss Universe journey, she also returned to showbiz and did several projects including a movie with Gerald Anderson entitled My Perfect You.

Undeniably, Pia’s victory in the Miss Universe 2015 is one of those that really marked a lot of people – after host Steve Harvey announced a different winner at first. Behind her victory, not everyone knows that Pia actually joined Binibining Pilipinas thrice before she was crowned to represent PH in the Miss Universe. The well-deserved win led her to bring home the 3rd Miss Universe crown for the country and then followed by Catriona Gray after three (3) years.
