Devotees Criticized After Hitting a Calm Cat During Holy Week Tradition
A group of devotees received harsh criticism after they struck a cat that was peacefully staying at the side of the road.
Recently, CH IE, a Facebook user, shared a video showing a group of devotees hitting a cat on the street. The post quickly went viral and gained various reactions from the online community.
The video shows a group of devotees performing their Holy Week ritual when one of them suddenly struck a cat that appeared to be doing nothing.

The cat’s owner shared her side and expressed distress over what happened. She explained that the animal was simply outside and not causing any trouble. After the incident, she went to the barangay to report the incident.
Officials advised her to observe the condition of the cat first. The person who hit the animal reportedly apologized, and the owner agreed to monitor the situation. She also mentioned that if the cat needed medical care, the person involved should help cover the expenses.
Despite the apology, the owner could not hide her disappointment. She shared that she takes care of several rescued cats and does her best to keep them safe, even though some still go outside.
The concerned netizen also raised concern over the reasoning of those involved, who reportedly questioned why the cat was outside in the first place.
Many people online echoed her sentiments, pointing out that being outdoors does not justify hurting an animal.

Thank you po!
