Rising Drag Star Misua Passes Away at 27, Leaving Fans Heartbroken

The drag community is mourning the untimely passing of rising drag queen Misua, known in real life as Jason Elvie Ty, who died at the young age of 27.
The heartbreaking news was confirmed by World of Wonder, the production company behind “Drag Race Philippines,” through a post on Instagram. Misua was set to compete in the upcoming fourth season of the popular reality show, making her passing even more devastating for fans and fellow performers who were eagerly anticipating her appearance.

According to the production, Misua passed away in her sleep on Thursday, April 2. The sudden nature of her death has left many in shock, especially those who had worked closely with her and witnessed her talent and vibrant personality firsthand.
“We are heartbroken to share that Misua, a talented Queen set to appear on season four of Drag Race Philippines passed away in her sleep the morning of April 2.
“She brought light, artistry, and joy to those around her, and she will be deeply missed,” said the World of Wonder.
In light of her passing, the production has decided to temporarily halt the taping for the upcoming season. This pause aims to give the cast and crew time to grieve and process the loss of someone who was not only a colleague but also a source of inspiration and positivity on set.
“Our thoughts are with her family, friends, and all who loved her. We are in contact with her family who have asked for privacy during this hard time,” World of Wonder said.
Meanwhile, Misua’s family also released a separate statement confirming her death and honoring her memory as their “dearly loved son, brother, friend, mentor.” Their message reflects the deep personal loss felt beyond the entertainment industry, highlighting the many roles she played in the lives of those closest to her.
