‘Inexperienced’ Grace Poe Hits Back to Critics, Enumerates Accomplishments

Sen. Grace Poe who now sits at her two years senatorial chair has hit back her critics who try to ruin her reputation and destroy her name through her “sterling accomplishments.”

The lady senator who was adjudged inexperience because of the supports she get encouraging her to run for higher office has not yet announced whether she will run or not.

However, she is not settling down to the label as she continues proving through the accomplishments she enumerated on Friday.

In a press statement, Poe’s office listed the bills that she initiated in the upper chamber and issues that she investigated as head of the committees on peace and order, public information and mass media, and public services subcommittee.

The statement held that “her committees have been among the most active in conducting public hearing and meetings in aid of legislation.”

The senator head the passing in the Senate of the People’s Freedom and Information Act which advocates a clean government by institutionalizing transparency and accountability in all government transactions and operations.

Poe also led the hearing on MRT and LRT issues to which she herself took an MRT ride to provide solutions to “MRT challenges that imperil the safety and welfare of commuters, as well as diminish their productivity” leading to the rehabilitation of basic facilities.

It can be remembered that Poe has also released own committee report on the Mamasapano incident.

Poe also submitted report to address challenges in the PNP which include logistics, weapons, human resource system, increasing criminality and deterioration of police stations.

She also supported the amendment of the Dangerous Drugs Act to enable the government to effectively go after big-time drug pushers which was enacted as RA 10640.

She initiated a bill seeking to impose stiffer penalties to better prevent car thieves and protect the interest of motor vehicle owners. It is now up for approval on second reading.

Aside from public priorities, the lady senator also led a public hearing on bills seeing to provide incentives to independent filmmakers, promote tourism and further protect the country’s artistic and cultural wealth from piracy.

The statement also pointed out the Poe “championed the initiative in the 2015 Budget law for an institutionalized free lunch feeding program for public school kids nationwide to address malnutrition and produce able young Filipinos as contained in her Sustansya para sa Batang Pilipino bill.”

For a record from her office, Poe has already filed and co-authored 198 measures to which 68 were bills and 130 were resolutions.

The statement added that the senator sponsored five bills to which three have been approved by the Senate furign the first regular session of the 16th congress.
