PAGASA Says Paeng Slightly Intensifies, Signal No.1 Raised in Some Areas

PAGASA Releases Latest Weather Update for Thursday (October 27, 2022)

The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that Tropical depression Paeng has slightly intensified and Signal No. 1 has been hoisted over some parts of the country.

On Thursday (October 27, 2022), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Tropical depression Paeng will affect the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA reported that Paeng was last spotted 660 km east of Borongan City, Eastern Samar. The weather disturbance intensified as it moved west-northwestward over the Philippine Sea.

Paeng has maximum sustained winds of 55 kph and gustiness of up to 70 kph. It was moving 10 kph in a west-northwest direction. Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 has been raised over the northern portion of Eastern Samar and the eastern part of Northern Samar.

The tropical depression is expected to intensify and its track may still change.

“Paeng is forecast to intensify into a tropical storm tomorrow. Further intensification is likely while moving over the Philippine Sea and may reach typhoon category by Saturday, Landfall at or near peak intensity is increasingly likely,” Pagasa said.

The Trough of Tropical Depression Paeng and shear line will bring cloudy weather condition with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, SOCCSKSARGEN, BARMM, Quezon, Agusan del Norte, Surigao del Norte, and Dinagat Islands.

The northeast monsoon will bring partly cloudy to cloudy weather condition with isolated light rains over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon. The localized thunderstorms will bring similar weather condition over the rest of Mindanao.

The weather agency has also advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.
