CHR Claims “Mass Surrenders” of NPA Rebels is Fake and Orders Probe
The Commission of Human Rights (CHR) orders probe against the fake “mass surrenders” of New People’s Army (NPA) rebels.
The CHR will look into the suspected fake “mass surrenders” of 244 New People’s Army (NPA) members in San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan, in April. These recommendations, according to CHR spokesperson Atty. Jacqueline Ann de Guia, should be supported by the respective regional offices.
“These reports have been received and shall be endorsed to the respective Regional Offices of the CHR for prompt investigation,” CHR spokesperson said.

Members of Bayan Muna and the urban poor organization Kalipunan ng Damayang Mahihirap surrendered, according to the paper (KADAMAY). De Guia has already discussed the study with Bayan Muna chairperson Neri Colmenares.
It also encouraged the military to investigate the suspected fake “mass surrenders” on its own. CHR will continue its independent investigation while also listening to the military and government’s side of the story.
“It is also our hope that there will be a significant reduction of violence on the ground, especially for conflict vulnerable and affected communities. We must put a stop to senseless violence,” she said.
