DUQUE – Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque III said he will try to convince Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte to have his COVID-19 vaccine in public.

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected the lives of almost everyone in the Philippines. Things with regards to public transportation now are no longer the same, schools have yet to return to face-to-face classes, quarantine measures are still up, etc.

This pandemic has cost a lot of lives and many are currently fighting for their lives against the disease. Unfortunately, amid the fight against COVID-19, a new variant of COVID-19 was detected in UK and cases of it were logged in the Philippines.

Currently, the people got different opinions with regards to the COVID-19 vaccine that is set to be administered to the Filipinos. Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte previously said that the healthcare workers are among the top priorities for the vaccine.

However, undeniably, a lot of people are hesitant to have the COVID-19 vaccine. Pres. Duterte said that he will also be vaccinated but it will be done in private.

Based on a recent report on ABS-CBN News, Senator Nancy Binay raised the concern about many Filipinos having second thoughts on getting vaccinated to DOH Sec. Francisco Duque III. She stressed that Pres. Duterte getting vaccinated publicly may be a boost on public trust to the vaccine.

According to the report, DOH Secretary Duque affirmed that he will try to convince Pres. Duterte to be vaccinated by the COVID-19 vaccine in public.

“Yes, ma’am, we will try our best to convince the president perhaps to publicly allow himself to be vaccinated, but we will respect his decision,” the DOH Chief told Sen. Binay.
