PNP Chief Sinas Relieves Lady Police From Post After Firing Gun on New Year’s Revelry

PNP Chief Sinas dismissed a lady police after firing a gun during the celebration of New Year’s Day in Malabon City.

On Monday (January 4, 2021), the Philippine National Police chief Gen. Debold Sinas has ordered the immediate dismissal of a lady cop identified Staff Sgt. Karen Borromeo for after caught firing her gun during the New Year.

Borromeo has been arrested by other local cops after some residents reported the gunshots in the neighborhood. She tested positive on paraffin test but tested negative for illegal drugs. Firing of firearms in not work or crime-related incidents is strictly prohibited.

Sinas has already ordered the National Capital Region Police Office to take immediate actions for the quick dismissal proceedings against Borromeo.

“We have a very strong case against her and the instruction of our SILG (Secretary of the Interior and Local Government Eduardo An) is to implement the same procedure of having her dismissed in 30 days,” Sinas said.

The PNP executive repeatedly warned all police personnel to avoid using firearms during the New Year revelry. He also warned the cops of possible sanctions and penalties as consequence for the violation.
