PNP Chief Sinas Says Agency Can’t Monitor Social Media Accounts of General Public As Regards Quarantine Violations

The PNP chief Debold Sinas said that the agency can’t monitor the social media accounts of general public as regards quarantine violations.

The Philippine National Police chief Police General Debold Sinas clarified that the agency has no capability to monitor social media accounts regarding violations on safety protocols especially during the Christmas season.

Sinas said that they could only act to the complaints reported by concerned individuals regarding those incidents. The police force could also immediately act on viral videos forwarded to the agency.

“As to [the question of] monitoring ng social media, wala po kaming capability sa ngayon at opisina na nag-monitor niyan. Ang ginagawa namin, pag may nagtext, ‘sir nag-viral ‘to,’ ‘sir nagganito ‘to,’ ‘Yun ang hinahanap at ‘yun ang inaaksyunan po namin,” Sinas said.

The Joint Task Force COVID Shield has already created a Facebook account to allow the public to report violations of safety protocols and quarantine guidelines. The account also aims to empower the people to obey the health protocols.

The PNP executive also warned the public that anyone involved in attending parties during the Christmas season amid the health crisis would face corresponding sanctions and penalties.
