PAGASA Monitors 2 Low-Pressure Areas, 9 Areas Expected to Experience Rains

PAGASA Latest Weather Updates About 2 LPAs Within PAR

The weather agency PAGASA is now monitoring two low-pressure areas within PAR and 9 areas are expected to experience heavy rains.

On Saturday (December 26, 2020), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration reported that the agency is monitoring two low-pressure areas within the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

One LPA entered the country’s vicinity earlier this day and was last spotted at 50 km east southeast of Zamboanga City. The other one has been last spotted at 315 km east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar it developed in east of Visayas.

Low-Pressure Areas

PAGASA said that the two weather disturbances are expected to develop into tropical depressions within the next 12 hours. The LPAs are expected to bring moderate to heavy rains over Aurora, Quezon, and the Bicol Region.

Here are the areas expected to be affected by the weather disturbances:

  • Bicol Region
  • Eastern Visayas
  • Aklan
  • Antique
  • Capiz
  • Iloilo
  • Romblon
  • Palawan
  • Zamboanga Peninsula
  • Sulu Archipelago

Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are expected over the remaining parts of Visayas and Mindanao. Light to moderate rains are also expected over light to moderate with occasionally heavy rains.

The weather agency also warned the public in the affected areas to take safety measures for floods and landslides during heavy and prolonged rainfall.
