Senators Urge Duterte To Suspend PhilHealth Top Officials
SENATORS URGE DUTERTE – Amid the probe into PhilHealth’s alleged anomalies, lawmakers urged President Rodrigo Duterte to suspend the firm’s top officials.
Among these officials was PhilHealth CEO, Ricardo Morales. With this, investigators could access official documents. Additionally, the Senators unanimously approved Resolution No. 502 led by Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri.

Furthermore, the resolution called for the preventative suspension of the senior PhilHealth officials following the NBI and the CoA’s troubles in seizing official documents from the state-run health insurance firm.
According to an article from Inquirer, Zubiri asserted that suspending the top officials would allow the NBI and the CoA to secure so investigations on the alleged corruption within PhilHealth could progress.
Allowing these PhilHealth officials to remain in office may give them time to tamper with, conceal or destroy important records, and further hamper the investigations of the NBI, the COA, the Ombudsman and other investigative bodies conducting investigations on PhilHealth,
As per the article, the resolution was passed following the suspension of former PhilHealth President Roy B. Ferrer along with 12 current and former officials of the firm. Along with this, the digital copy of the document showed the suspension had two separate orders.
Last year, Ferrer resigned after an investigation of fraudulent payments made by PhilHealth resulted in P154 billion in losses over several years. However, following his resignation, Duterte appointed Ferrer as assistant secretary of the Department of Health.

- Former Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Ruben John A. Basa
- Senior Vice President for management services Dennis S. Mas
- Vice President for corporate affairs and spokesperson Shirley B. Domingo
- Senior Vice President for legal Rodolfo Del Rosario Jr.
