PhilHealth: No “Hard Evidence” Yet Of Alleged Corruption

PHILHEALTH – State health insurance PhilHealth recently said that there were no “hard evidence” yet that it’s officials were involved in the alleged corruption there.

According to ABS-CBN News, The agency earlier dismissed employees who conspired with certain hospitals and doctors over the alleged fraudulent activities.

The agency’s spokesperson Dr. Shirley Domingo added that they also filed charges against the said employees.

“We already said there is insurance fraud. Matagal na po namin iyang ina-address “

“Pero as to collusion with employees, wala pa tayong hard evidence on that,”

Whistleblowers accused the agency’s officials of repeatedly approving fund release to favored hospitals and overpriced procurements in a Senate hearing this month.

The agency also suspended its advance deposits for hospitals. Domingo also said that this will not affect the agency members who need medical coverage.

“The effect is on the hospitals na may problem sa financial liquidity nila”

“We hope to be able to address all the issues within 2 weeks.” 

Domingo added that the agency also plans to undergo reorganization this year, based on the report.

Several officers of Philippine Health Insurance Corporation also signed a bank secrecy waiver.

The agency also said that it may shut itself down in case the COVID-19 pandemic still persist since it running out of funds.
