What will happen to the ABS-CBN station ID tradition?
For several years, the ABS-CBN station ID has become a part of Filipino households whether it is for the summer, rainy season, or the holiday season.
Avid Kapamilya viewers would always wait for the station ID as executives, talents, staff and crew gather together to bring inspiration and happiness in whatever season in a year. This has become a tradition of Philippine television.
However, since Congress has rejected the franchise application of ABS-CBN, many people behind the Creative Communications Management (CCM), the department behind the station ID are worried.
“Mahirap siya, kasi kailangan ng maraming tao from research, conceptualization, to mounting itself… Naapektuhan din kami ng retrenchment… Kasi for us na gumagawa nito taon-taon, gusto namin ituloy ang tradisyon pero sa nangyayari ngayon, hindi namin alam,” Sheryl Ramos said, based on the article from ABS-CBN.

For 17 years, she has become part of the team behind the ABS-CBN station ID. “Ang goal natin is to inspire Filipinos, we always champion the Filipino spirit… Iyung innate na sa Filipinos, ‘yung mga values, nire-remind lang natin sila na mahalin ang magulang nila, love for God, love for country,” she shared.
Ramos also shared one instance that an OFW who told them that the station ID of the Kapamilya network cures homesickness. She is hopeful that the situation of ABS-CBN will be better soon.
During the 90s, the TV giant introduced the Sarimanok. It was a computer-based graphic that has become a symbol of ABS-CBN for several years. Then in 2002, the first music video station ID was released titled “Saya ng Summer”.
