Residents in Talisay City Returns DSWD Cash Aid for Giving Wrong Info
Talisay City, Negros Occidental – some residents return the DSWD cash aid after founding out that they lied about the information given.
As the public health crisis still continues, the government is already distributing relief goods and giving cash aid or known as the Social Amelioration Program to help the residents whose jobs were affected by the lockdown protocols.
However, there are reports that some recipients using cash assistance inappropriately. Lots of SAP beneficiaries were arrested for committing crimes amid the existing enhanced community quarantine such as gambling, illegal cockfighting, and worst is drug-related.
Meanwhile, in Talisay City, Negros Occidental some residents are forced to return the P6,000 cash assistance given by Department of Social Welfares and Development (DSWD) after found that they lied about the information they give filling up the forms.
According to the Facebook post of TV Patrol Negros, more than fifteen thousand recipients have received the cash, while nearly one thousands of them have been found lying, said CSWD’s Officer in Charge Dionela Madrona,
Photos shows some of the recipients returning the money at the city’s Social Welfare and Development Office after the warning was filed. When the CSWD reviewed the beneficiary lists they found out that they were lying.
Most of the recipients found guilty and disqualified have family members that have works, some are barangay officials and employees of city hall. While others have family member working abroad and partners that already received the cash.
They return the money after DSWD threaten them that they could be charged and imprisoned. Since yesterday, about fifty people have returned the money.
