Male Patient in Iloilo City Dies Before Its Coronavirus Test Results Released

PERSON UNDER INVESTIGATION – A male patient in Iloilo City dies while waiting for his coronavirus test results.

On Wednesday (March 18, 2020), Iloilo City, Mayor Jerry Treñas reported that a person under investigation (PUI) for coronavirus died while waiting for his test results. The patient has shown signs and symptoms of the infection.

The man is the third person under investigation who died this week before getting its COVID-19 test results. The first victim was recorded in Cebu City and the second person died in Marawi City.

Mayor Jerry Treñas called a meeting with the managers of the business establishment including malls, supermarkets, and other stakeholders to discuss the possibility of lockdown over the next few days to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

As of this writing, there are at least 29 people under investigation in the city of Iloilo prompting its government to plan a 14-day lockdown. The proposed measure includes the full shutdown of malls and other business establishments.

However, the proposed lockdown would exempt several establishments such as pharmacies, banks, supermarkets, restaurants, and other primary services.

Several hospitals in Iloilo City have already imposed the “no visitor” policy. People who will; enter the hospitals should submit themselves first to protect the welfare of health workers and other patients.
