Psychological & Psychiatric Test On Government Officials

House Bill 7344 of Kabayan Reps. Ron Salo and Ciriaco Calalang urge the government officials to undergo a psychological and psychiatric test.

Kamara is now pushing the proposed mandatory psychological and psychiatric test for the government employees to determine whether they are mentally fit for their duties or not.

The House Bill 7344 covers the officials who will have appointive positions and elective government officials.

Government Officials

Salo and Calalang said that they created the proposed government service mandatory psychological and psy­chiatric testing Act following the impeachment proceeding against Supreme Court (SC) Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno wherein her mental fitness becomes an issue.

However, the House Bill does not cover the employees without discretion or supervisory powers with their jobs as well as the officials whose qualifications and the basis for dismissal was set by the Constitution.

Aside from it, the casual, temporary and co-terminus employees as well as to those who are in confidential positions.

Government Officials

The mandatory psychological and psychiatric test also cover those who were applying for the positions with supervisory powers.

The Congressmen explained that the psycho test is important in order to determine the capability, character, and the capacity to perform of the assigned government officials in any situation.
