Robin Padilla Reveals Why He Calls Himself a Good Boy in Government
ROBIN PADILLA – Senator Robin Padilla has firmly stated that his long-standing “Bad Boy” image should not be associated with his role as a politician and public servant.
The actor-turned-lawmaker clarified during a media interview held at the advance screening and press conference for his comeback film, Bad Boy 3. During the event, members of the media asked whether he also considered himself a “Bad Boy” in the Senate.
The question came amid continuing controversies involving recent developments in the Senate. Padilla has been linked to allegations surrounding the reported escape and concealment of his close friend, Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa. At the same time, reports also surfaced regarding an alleged tension between Padilla and Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla during a Blue Ribbon Committee hearing conducted by the so-called “Cayetano bloc” on June 4.

According to Senator Pia Cayetano, Remulla allegedly tried to prevent her from entering the Senate together with 18 former Marines invited as witnesses in connection with controversial flood control projects. However, both camps later clarified that the reports were inaccurate. Padilla himself emphasized that there was no conflict and that he and Remulla were on good terms.
When asked about the “Bad Boy” label in politics, Padilla explained that the term should apply to corrupt officials and individuals who steal from the government rather than to him.
“Ang Bad Boy sa politika kasi. ‘yan yung mga korap. Yan, eh, hindi ako Bad Boy sa politika. Ako’y very Good Boy sa politika, kaya nga ang sabi nila, lagi akong maximum tolerance,” he said.

Padilla also reflected on the difference between politics and the entertainment industry, admitting that he finds show business far more enjoyable.
“Sa totoo lang po, mas masaya po sa showbiz kaysa politika. Malayung-malayo po. Iba nag ligaya po sa shooting.
“Iba talaga itsura ko kapag politika. Pag politika, talagang dala mo ‘yung problema ng bayan, iba yung bigat. Showbiz, masarap eh. Kasi nag-e-entertain kayo ng tao, masaya ‘yong tao,” he added.
Despite the challenges that come with public service, Padilla continues to balance his political duties while making his return to the big screen through Bad Boy 3.
