Robin Padilla shared his thoughts on showbiz and politics
Sen. Robin Padilla, who is also tagged as the “Bad Boy of Philippine Cinema,” said that the world of showbiz is more fun than politics.
Robin was one of the most popular action stars in the 90s. During his prime, he did many action movies that established his name in the entertainment industry. In 2022, he decided to enter the political arena and became the number one Senator at that time.
The veteran actor and senator was honest when comparing the two different worlds that he is currently living in.
On June 4, he appeared before the entertainment media after the special screening of his comeback movie “Bad Boy 3” under Viva Films.
Before the said showbiz event, there was tension in the Senate between Robin and Department of the Interior and Local Government Sec. Jonvic Remulla, who blocked the lawmaker and Sen. Pia Cayetano from entering the plenary hall.
Based on the article in Bandera, many members of the media noticed that the action star seemed to be no problem when it comes to issues and controversies as a lawmaker.
“Sa totoo lang po, mas masaya sa showbiz kesa sa politika, malayung-malayo ho. Iba ang ligaya po sa shooting. Iba talaga ang itsura ko kapag politika, kapag politika talagang… siyempre, dala mo yung problema ng bayan. Iba talaga yung bigat nu’n,” he admitted.
Robin also said that showbiz is great because they entertain people and people are happy. He also said that he feels a different kind of happiness when he is with members of the entertainment media.
“Talagang oo, kasi iba sa politika, e. Iba talaga yung bigat niya, ang bigat sa balikat. Ang tao, katulad kanina, ibang-iba, e. Kapag pupunta ka sa political event, hindi ganu’n ka-warm ang mga tao, tinitingnan ka, sinusukat ka,” the actor-politician said.
He added that when it’s a showbiz event, it’s different, as people would hug him and pose for a photo with him. Robin pointed out that their lives are so good, and so they should take care of the entertainment industry.
Meanwhile, Sen. Robin Padilla also appealed to support the bills he made for showbiz, and one f these was the provision of incentives for good films, similar to the incentives given in Thailand, and in Korea. The lawmaker is hopeing that he will get the needed help to pass those bills.
