Cherry blossom trees have been spotted growing in a town in Negros Province.

Undeniably, lots of people most especially Filipinos dream of visiting Japan or Korea someday to witness the eye-capturing cherry blossom trees. Fortunately, it can now be found in the Philippines – specifically in La Castellana, a town in Negros Occidental.
Based on a recent feature article in Choose Philippines, the people living in the town has just recently noticed that Palawan cherry blossoms are growing in the town’s mountainous areas.
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has already been asked by the mayor of La Castellana, a town which was named after Madrid’s ‘Paseo de La Castellana,’ to study the cherry blossom trees and how to grow it.
La Castellana can be found at Kanlaon Volcano’s base. It is a first class municipality in the province and is widely known for its annual festival, Bailes de Luces, which always never fails to gather the crowd.
Based on the post, if you will travel from La Castellana going to Mount Kanlaon, the cherry blossom trees are already visible. The said trees changes its color based on the season or the month. Though it is widely known for its pink color, you can also see it in white and yellow.
As of the writing, there is no announcement yet regarding its availability for close-up public viewing. Nevertheless, it is really good to know that we no longer need to fly to other nation to see these beautiful trees.
For the people in Manila who wish to see the cherry blossom trees even just on the highway going to Mount Kanlaon, it would just take an estimated 45-minute plain ride from Manila to Bacolod City.
You can then consider a cab or shuttle ride going to the South Terminal where you will find buses that are bound for La Castellana. It would take around one and a half hour travel going to the said municipality.
