On Dad Rodrigo’s Birthday, Daughter Kitty Duterte Is Miles Away to Keep Promise
KITTY DUTERTE – The youngest daughter of former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte penned a heartfelt birthday message for him.
Since former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte was arrested and brought to The Hague, Netherlands for the transfer of his custody to the International Criminal Court, the Duterte siblings took turn in visiting their father inside the ICC detention facility.
Former Pres. Duterte is faced with three (3) counts of murder as alleged crimes against humanity filed by the ICC prosecutors. Amid his ICC detention, he has reiterated his service and loyalty to the Filipino people.
The confirmation of charges hearing of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte was held in February but he skipped from attending the ICC hearing. According to the former President, he remains to refuse the jurisdiction of the foreign court over him.
Kitty Duterte, the youngest among the Duterte siblings, claimed that they did not watch the confirmation of charges hearing of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte. She stressed that they cannot afford to watch it.
Duterte was represented by his legal counsel, British-Israeli lawyer Nicholas Kaufman, in the ICC confirmation of charges hearing. The lawyer previously claimed that the former President is no longer monitoring the proceedings but, as his lawyer, he does his job of informing him about what is happening.
Today, former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte is celebrating his 81st birthday. This day marks the second birthday of the former President inside the ICC detention facility since he was arrested last March 11, 2025 by the Philippine authorities.
On social media, Kitty Duterte penned a heartfelt birthday message for former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. She stressed that the former President is “Papa” to four (4) of them and “Dada” to him and Mira.
“just like what you say, up to this day. i am right in front of you, like a mirror resembling in your character, bravery, grit, volition — but not even half your heart,” she wrote in her post.
In her birthday message, Kitty Duterte stated that she loves former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte to the point that she knew he’s a difficult person but it’s only either she will love him or not, sacrifice for him or not, choose him or not, fight for him or not.
According to Kitty, she currently cannot be with former Pres. Duterte on his birthday so she can fulfill her promise to him. The youngest among the Duterte siblings claimed that she vowed to the former President to choose her head over her heart and to never let her emotions cloud her judgment.
“happy birthday to my mirror. despite everything i have grown into, my deepest pride comes from when you say that i love you “too much.”, because what’s done in love, is never a waste. i carry not just a piece, but a portal to you — wherever i go. i know the greatest gift i can give, is to be strong like you and strong for you,” Kitty wrote in her post.
Previously, amid coming from a political clan, Kitty Duterte asserted that she supposedly has no plan to enter politics.
