Kean Cipriano and his music label faced this issue
Singer Kean Cipriano, who owns the music label O/C Records with his wife actress Chynna Ortaleza, is now being accused of exploiting artists.
This issue was started by the blind item that social media personality Xian Gaza shared on his Facebook page. Even though he did not mention any name, netizens who talked about this on Reddit assumed that he was referring to Kean and his music label.
Then, in his following post, Xian greeted everyone a good day, except the Ciprianos Allegedly, the owner of the music label is getting majority of the profit from the songs released by their artists.

On March 8, Xian Gaza shared another post about his plan to establish his own music label that he wanted to name Yuki Entertainment Co., Ltd. or YE Records. He said that he wanted artists to own their Spotify and YouTube accounts and earn from these.
“Kikita lamang yung company ko kapag naibenta ko yung music nila. 50% sa artist, 50% sa YE Records,” Xian said, adding some conditions and terms he wanted to implement. For him, music labels will be forced to adjust for the artists.
“Mapipilitang mag-adjust yung mga abusadong kumpanya. Panalo ang mga Filipino music artists. What do you think about this, Mr. Kean Cipriano?” the social media personality stated.

In the comment section of his post, he mentioned RnB singer Arthur Nery, who was also being handled previously by O/C Records, but is now handled by Viva. Xian said that Arthur might knew a lot of things regarding this matter.

Singer Mrld, who was under Kean’s music label also shared a post following Xian Gaza’s blind item. She mentioned that she deserves more than 5 percent of the songs she wrote and produced.
Mrld recently announced that she is now an independent artist. “I’m selfish and want revenge. I WENT INDEPENDENT BECAUSE MY FAMILY NEEDS TO EAT AND LIVE. Di kami mabubuhay sa barya lang,” the singer said, emphasizing that she is the breadwinner of their family.

Mrld also shared that she asked for a meeting several times but to no avail, this did not happen. “The expiration of my contract came and you come huddling as if I owe you something? Dapat lahat ng tao may karapatang umalis. Tiniis ko na ang limang taon na yon oh, siguro enough na yon. Di naman siguro 100 pesos lang naging ambag ko sa inyo diba? Numbers don’t lie,” she wrote in her Facebook post.

In the comment section of her post, she mentioned that 95 percent goes to the company and sometimes even her food became an issue. “95% kase sila kase sila sa marketing pati sa pag fund ng song” pagkain nga pinagawayan namin eh kase bakit daw ako nagrerequest. Ay sorry nasabi ko,” she shared.

However, based on the article in myx.global, Kean Cipriano’s company stressed that Mrld’s recording deal and exclusive management contract with O/C Records are “still in full effect.” As of this writing, Kean has yet to release a statement on the accusation against him and his company.
