Former Sen. Bong Revilla, 6 Others Arrive at Sandiganbayan over Malversation Case

The Sandiganbayan Third Division postponed the arraignment of the case filed against former Senator Bong Revilla and six others.

Former Sen. Ramon “Bong” Revilla is faced with plunder and malversation charges in relation to the flood control issue in the Philippines. The former Senator is accused of involvement in the supposed multi-million “ghost” flood control project in Pandi, Bulacan.

The Sandiganbayan Third Division previously released an arrest warrant against former Sen. Bong Revilla and six (6) officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) who are as follows:

  • former DPWH Bulacan First District Engineering Office (DEO) assistant district engineer Brice Hernandez
  • former DPWH Bulacan First DEO Engr. Jaypee Mendoza
  • former DPWH Bulacan First DEO Engr. Arjay Domasig
  • former DPWH Bulacan First DEO Engr. Emelita Juat
  • former DPWH Bulacan First DEO finance section chief Juanito Mendoza, at
  • DPWH Bulacan First District Engineering Office cashier Christina Pineda

The Sandiganbayan Third Division ordered former Sen. Bong Revilla to be detained at the New Quezon City Jail in Payatas. His camp filed a motion seeking for his transfer to the Custodial Facility of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Camp Crame in Quezon City.

Today, the former Sen. Bong Revilla arrived at the Sandiganbayan Third Division. He arrived hand-cuffed and he was mum to the questions of the reporters as he heads his way to the courtroom.

According to News5, the Sandiganbayan Third Division ruled to postpone the arraignment of the malversation charges filed against former Sen. Bong Revilla and six (6) others. Based on the post, the court decided that it shall make a ruling first on the motions filed by the accused before the court.

Several children of former Sen. Bong Revilla arrived at the court to show support for their father. Among them were Cavite 1st District Rep. Jolo Revilla and Cavite Vice Gov. Ramon “Ram” Revilla.

Amid the accusations against her husband, Cavite Congresswoman Lani Mercado previously made an appeal over the case against former Sen. Bong Revilla.
