John Lapus Says Vice Ganda’s Partner Ion Perez Is Not Gay

John Lapus had this statement about Ion Perez

Comedian-director John Lapus asserted that It’s Showtime host Ion Perez, the partner of Unkabogable Star Vice Ganda, is not gay.

Vice and Ion had been open about their relationship. The romance between them bloomed when Ion joined the Kapamilya noontime show, in which Vice is one of the main hosts. They received support, especially from the LGBTQIA+ community, when they officially confirmed their relationship.

Vice and Ion had a wedding ceremony in Las Vegas in October 2021. After many years of being together, their relationship became stronger.

In a recent interview, based on the article in Abante, John Lapus, who is known as one of Vice Ganda’s closest friends in the entertainment industry, stressed that Ion Perez is not gay.

Remarks circulated on social media that since Ion is in a relationship with a gay man, this meant that he is also gay. However, John contradicted this belief of some people.

Si Ion Perez, ang tingin niya sa sarili niya, ang kanyang gender, siya ay lalaki. He is straight,” John said about the longtime partner of Vice. The comedian-director also made a clarification regarding the perception of other people that if a man is in a relationship with another man, he is considered gay.

Hindi porket asawa niya na si Vice at nagtat@lik sila, bakla na siya. Mali ang ganyang kaisipan,” John stressed.

For him, this is clearly a matter of identity and should not be judged based on the relationship. The comedian-director added that the root of the issue is the public’s lack of knowledge about gender identity and sexual orientation.

He also believed that the measure of being “gay” or “straight” is not who you love or marry, but how you see yourself. With this, he asked the public to be more understanding and refrain from judging Ion Perez.

Finally, John Lapus calls for a stop to judging Ion. “Straight si Ion Perez, at walang sinuman ang may karapatang magdikta ng kanyang kasarian,” John Lapus said.
