Bugoy Cariño initially regretted becoming a father at a young age, but time has shifted his perspective in a better and mature way.
At 15 years old, former Hashtag member Bugoy Cariño became a father to his first child with volleyball player EJ Laure. Their daughter’s name is Scarlet and is now seven years old.
Last year, Bugoy and EJ got married, and recently, in an interview, he admitted that he initially regretted being a father at a young age. There was regret because at that time, he was being built by his network as the next heartthrob. Apart from his acting skills, he also performs well.
However, through time, his perspective changed and shifted for the better.
When his baby arrived, his priorities became clear—his family came first. He realized that she was a blessing, and around that time, even more blessings came into their lives. Eventually, the regrets faded, outweighed by the happiness and joy his daughter brought to them.
“Habang tumagal na-realize ko gift siya ni God. Blessing siya. Kumbaga ng time na iyon, mas marami blessing pumasok sakin. Inalis ko na sa isip regrets ko o na nagsisisi ako,” he said.
Becoming a father pushed him to grow as a person, and his faith grew stronger, believing that God would not give anything without a purpose or a way to overcome it. He believed that it was meant to happen.
Despite stepping out from the limelight, they were not able to escape the critical comments. However, with his focus and priorities set straight, they were able to cancel the noise. He helped his wife overcome the hurtful words online and reminded her that the more basher they have, the more they become relevant.
As of now, he’s not as active as he was on television before, but online selling became their bread and butter. He is happy to find a platform where they can earn, but despite this, he is still hoping to do more acting projects soon.
“Super thankful ako kahit wala ako sa TV visible pa ako sa social media. Masaya po. Hindi ko inexpect na mag-online selling ako. Masaya pala. Nakakatuwa. Lalo na kung may suki ka na,” he said.
