Recently, Jerome Jacuba, a Facebook user, thanked the President for giving him the chance to continue serving. The post quickly went viral and received various reactions from the online community.
Jacuba lost his eyesight in 2016 after a bomb explosion during an operation in Mindanao. The life-changing incident left him with permanent injuries, and for years, he faced challenges not only in recovery but also in his career as a soldier.

Earlier this week, President Marcos ordered AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Romeo Brawner to suspend Jacubaās Complete Disability Discharge. Along with this decision, the President also approved the promotion of Jacuba from Captain to Major.
The announcement gave him a renewed sense of purpose and pride, knowing that he could still continue the work he dedicated his life to.
In his video, Jacuba expressed deep appreciation for the trust and opportunity given to him. He thanked the President for recognizing his capabilities despite his condition and for strengthening the morale of wounded soldiers and persons with disabilities in the service.
Jacuba also shared that he felt honored to be supported by leaders who value the sacrifices of soldiers. He noted that similar support was extended to him during the previous administration, making him feel that the welfare of service members remained a priority.
