Robin Padilla Praises Leni Robredo’s ‘No Gift Policy,’ Says VP Sara Practices the Same

Robin Padilla Echoes Leni Robredo’s ‘No Gift Policy,’ Backs VP Sara’s Similar Practice

ROBIN PADILLA – Senator Robin Padilla has joined the discussion on ethical governance, expressing his support for the “No Gift Policy” initiated by Leni Robredo and practiced by Vice President Sara Duterte.

Robin Padilla recently shed light on why he and several other public officials choose to decline gifts from citizens, explaining that it is part of their duty to observe ethical practices in government service. His remarks were made in relation to the “No Gift Policy” first enforced by former Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo, a regulation designed to promote honesty and transparency within public institutions.

Robredo previously stated that the policy is applied across all government offices in Naga City to help prevent corruption and conflicts of interest. She stressed that such measures are crucial in preserving good governance and ensuring that government employees remain answerable to the public.

In a Facebook post, Padilla mentioned that Vice President Sara Duterte also follows the same principle. “Ganito rin si VP Inday Sara Duterte. Paulit-ulit na sinasabi ng staff niya sa lahat ng aming pinupuntahan sa abroad. No gift policy,” the senator wrote, expressing his agreement with the approach and affirming that he upholds the same values in his own work.

The senator also appealed to the public to understand their reasons for declining gifts and not take it personally. “Ganu’n din po sa mga nais manglibre sa restaurant, hindi po ako isnub, natural lang po na hindi ako pumayag kapag sinasabi na ilibre kita,” said Padilla, the husband of TV host Mariel Rodriguez, noting that his actions are based on respect for ethical rules rather than pride or indifference.

He went on to share, in a lighthearted tone, how Filipinos abroad often insist on giving small presents as a gesture of appreciation. “Maraming salamat po, wala na akong magagawa kung kasingbilis niyo si FPJ bumunot,” he joked, displaying his humor while still expressing gratitude.
