Heavy Rains Cause Flooding in Bacolod City

Bacolod City Submerged in Floodwaters Due to  Heavy Rains

Several areas in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental were flooded after hours of heavy rain poured over the city.

On Tuesday, October 14, 2025, the strong downpour caused water levels to rise quickly, leaving streets and low-lying areas submerged.

One of the affected areas was Purok Carvic in Barangay Mandalagan, where floodwaters rose in the afternoon as rain continued to fall. Residents were seen trying to move their belongings to higher ground to prevent damage.

The sudden flooding disrupted traffic and made it difficult for people to move around, especially in areas with poor drainage.

In the Reclamation Area, floodwaters reached the entrance of a shopping mall, forcing some stores to temporarily close as water entered the surrounding walkways and parking spaces. Commuters and motorists struggled to pass through the flooded streets, while public transport became limited in some parts of the city.

According to residents, the heavy rain started around midday and lasted for several hours. The continuous downpour, combined with clogged drainage systems, caused water to accumulate faster than usual.

Some locals also expressed concern that flooding in the city has become more frequent, especially during strong rains.

Authorities and barangay officials are monitoring affected areas and advising the public to stay alert for possible further flooding. They reminded residents to avoid wading through deep water for safety and health reasons.

The frequent flooding served as a reminder of the city’s need for better drainage systems and continued preparedness for sudden weather changes.
