Elderly Taho Vendor Falls Asleep During Jeepney Ride
An elderly taho vendor seen sleeping inside of a public jeepney due to exhaustion touches many hearts.
A young woman was touched when she saw an elderly taho vendor sleeping soundly inside a jeepney, exhausted from a long day of work. She uploaded a video online, not expecting the overwhelming response it would receive.
The post quickly went viral online, with thousands of netizens expressing their sympathy and admiration for the hardworking vendor. Many were inspired to come together and extend financial help to ease his struggles.

A few days later, the uploader, Princess, was able to track down the vendor—61-year-old Eddie Sodsod from Ibaan, Batangas. Every day, he travels to Rosario to collect taho before heading back to Ibaan to sell it.
His daily commute alone takes two hours, and after selling all day, he only gets home by 8 PM, only to start his journey again at midnight. This exhausting routine explains why he was so tired that he fell asleep in the jeepney.
Having been a taho vendor for 13 years, the weight of his daily load has left permanent marks on his shoulders. His dedication and perseverance moved many people, leading to an outpouring of donations and support.
Princess personally bought groceries for him and shared how kind and cheerful he remained despite his hardships. His smile grew even brighter when he received the generous gifts from strangers who were touched by his story.
Eddie expressed his gratitude, saying that as a senior citizen earning only P300 a day, every bit of help meant so much to him.
“Salamat po, sana hindi kayo magsawang tumulong sa akin. Ako’y senior na, magtataho lamang na ang kinikita sa isang araw ay P300 lang. Pangkain lang, pamasahe,” said Tatay Eddie.
Princess assured donors that all contributions were safely handled and went directly to Eddie. She also reminded people to be cautious of scammers trying to take advantage of the situation.
