Police Authorities Arrested the Lookout of 2 Suspects Who Stole P20K from Store in Rizal
Two male suspects reportedly stole P20,000 from a local store in Antipolo, Rizal; police authorities arrested the lookout.
On Friday morning (August 30, 2024), the theft was captured on CCTV as the crime was being committed. The footage shows the two men walking along the street, stopping near a store, and then walking away, seemingly scouting for a place to rob.
The actual theft happened at a nearby sari-sari store. The store owner, Jan Jan Babor, explained that his 12-year-old child was managing the store when the crime happened.
The suspects pretended to buy eggs, but one of them ended up grabbing the money and putting it in his pocket. The other suspect held onto the eggs and acted as a lookout.
“Siyempre ‘yung bata kukuha ng gano’n. Tapos ngayon nu’ng paglingon niya, sumigaw na siya. ‘Kuya ano yan?’ May nadakot na ‘yung pera sa lagayan tapos nilagay sa bulsa niya. Tapos ngayon ‘yung itlog, nakahawak ‘yung isa, ‘yung lockout,” Babor said.
Babor described how one of the thieves forcefully took the money. He reported that the stolen amount included not only the store’s earnings but also savings from a women’s group, totaling P20,000.
“‘Yung benta sa tindahan na ilang araw, tapos ‘yung sa paluwagan din nila, ng mga kababaihan. Ayon, umabot siya ng P20,000, ‘yun ‘yung halaga ng nakuha ng pera ng magnanakaw talaga,” he added.
Later, witnesses managed to corner one of the suspects, identified as 24-year-old “Sam” from Cainta, Rizal. Sam was captured and claimed he was just a lookout and had no knowledge of the actual theft.
He insisted that he did not know his accomplice’s plan and denied any involvement in the theft.
The police are preparing charges against Sam, who is currently in custody at the Antipolo Police Station. They are still searching for the suspect who escaped with the stolen money.
