PAGASA Says Habagat to Bring Scattered Rains Over Parts of PH

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that habagat will bring scattered rain over parts of the country.

On Friday (August 9, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The southwest monsoon will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA weather specialist Benison Estareja reported that southwest monsoon or habagat will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Luzon and the western section of Visayas.

“Patuloy pa din ang pag-ihip ng habagat o southwest monsoon sa malaking bahagi ng Luzon at Western Visayas, so asahan na po ang pag-ulan partikular dito sa western sections,” said Estareja.

The southwest monsoon will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Ilocos Region, Zambales, and Bataan. Flash floods or landslides are possible due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

Habagat will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon, and Western Visayas.

The localized thunderstorms will bring similar weather conditions over the remaining parts of the country. Possible flash floods or landslides are expected during severe thunderstorms.

The weather agency said that no weather disturbances are being monitored inside and outside of the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

Wala na po tayong minomonitor na weather disturbance o low pressure area (LPA) sa loob o paligid ng ating Philippine area of responsibility,” Estareja said.

PAGASA is monitoring Tropical Storm Maria and a potential low-pressure area outside the country’s vicinity.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Northern Luzon will be moderate. The remaining parts of the country will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions. No gale warning was raised in any of the country’s seaboards.
